The shaft is connected to gears that are fixed on the interior of the gearbox. This shaft moves when the input moves.

Parallel Shaft Geared Motor

A parallel shaft geared motor has two parallel shafts with gears turning on each. The parallel shafts are part of the same housing. One shaft is powered by the motor, and the other shaft is not. The gear attached to the motor shaft is called the drive gear. The gear attached to the non-powered shaft is called the idler gear. As one gear turns, it turns the other gear via a fixed connection.
